Welcome to the Melbourne Soul Club
Can it be New Year - and a month already gone..? How times flies when you're dodging raindrops, getting swept away by gale force winds, or being roasted in the Australian Summer. Well folks, its time to slip on those patent leather shoes again for some shimmying, northern and some two stepping action. Fun starts at 7:30pm and with it being the Philadelphia International record label's 40th year, some interesting new remixes to start off the night. We'll see you when you get there..! . The Melbourne Soul Club has celebrated its Fifth anniversary of the regular 'Motown, Northern Soul and Soul nights', coming together to enjoy the best music there is.... For lovers of Motown, Soul and Northern Soul music from the late 50's through the hay-days of the 60's and 70's until early 80's. The idea behind what we do is to put on a regular soul night that everyone can understand and enjoy. . We play a real mix of Motown, 70's Soul, Northern Soul, Philly, Stax, Atlantic and Modern as well as some of the classic weekender tunes. And just about everything else we can dig out of the boxes. It's all about balance. So if you have not had or taken a chance to come to our nights, then come down say Hi. It would be great to see you. 
Regular DJ's Steve Cowburn and Steve Bardsley are joined most months by guest DJ's (Brian Heart of Radio Port Philip & Jeff Evans of Radio Casey, plus others) adding to the variety and depth of the music we play. We try to keep our DJ talk to a minimum preferring to let the music speak for itself. We meet at the Bayswater RSL, entry is $5 and we normally run a raffle. All proceeds go to pay for the venue and raffle prizes. None of the DJ's or organisers are paid and any extra money is put back into the club. Like all RSL's, at the Bayswater RSL drinks are very reasonable and you are welcome to bring snacks and nibbles to share. Treasurer and coordinator Maureen Cowburn collects our small entry fee and manages selling the raffle tickets.
